This type of coffee appeared and got its name during the Second World War. American soldiers, unaccustomed to strong coffee, began adding water to the espresso. Then the reception was taken over by local baristas. This is how a new drink appeared, which eventually gained immense popularity. Americano is prepared as a doppio - a double espresso and then diluted with hot water in a 1: 1 ratio. Sometimes espresso and hot water are served separately so that you can dilute the coffee to your liking.

The name goes back to the Italian monastic order of the Capuchins, who loved coffee with milk. For the similarity of their robes - a brown robe with a high hood - with a milk cap of coffee, the drink soon became known as cappuccino.
The cup contains espresso, hot milk and milk foam in equal proportions, and the main art is to keep the border between coffee and whipped milk. Cappuccino is served at 55 degrees in a warm cup, often topped with cinnamon. Initially, there was 90 ml in one cup, but now the 150-180 ml serving is more common.
Cappuccino can be made with skim milk, soy milk, or non-fat cream, which also affects the calorie content. And the main beauty of this type of coffee is the skill of the baristas who paint various patterns on the milk foam.

Latte appeared in the 19th century as a drink for foreign tourists who considered espresso and cappuccino too strong. To make a latte for three parts milk, take one part espresso. The milk is frothed into a froth, but more fluffy and less elastic than in a cappuccino, and then poured into the coffee. The result is a homogeneous light brown drink with a slight head of foam.
